Our Governors

Governor Vision Statement

Lantern Lane Primary School provides an environment which nurtures confidence, achievement, respect and enthusiasm (C.A.R.E) in all aspects of the pupils’ lives. As governors, we ensure our school community provides every opportunity to enable our children to thrive, develop a lifelong love of learning and be the best they can be. We make sure that our school is a safe, welcoming and positive environment for all members of the school community, where diversity is celebrated and the well-being of all is a priority.

Members of our governing body are committed to visiting school regularly and to offering independent thinking when acting as a critical friend to challenge and support the leadership team and hard-working staff. We want all children to leave Lantern Lane having experienced a balanced, stimulating, ambitious and enriched curriculum and be confident to continue their education and development, having had the best possible start.

Our school governors strive to make a positive contribution to the children's education, sharing the beliefs that shape our school. Our committed governing body has a key role in ensuring the effectiveness of our school.  Governors serve a four-year term and have three core strategic responsibilities:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

  • Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;

  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Our governors contribute to our school improvement plan and work closely with school staff to monitor, challenge and celebrate standards within the school.

Our governing body has two main committees:

- Finance, Pupils & Resources

- Strategic Development

The committees are made up of parents, staff and members of our local community.   Some of our governors are co-opted to the governing body whilst some are elected by parents or staff. One of our governors is appointed by our Local Authority, Nottinghamshire County Council.

Chair of Governors - Emma Cooper and Nicole Martin

Strategic Development Chair - Kerrie Grayman

Finance, Pupil & Resources Chair - Chris Willimsky
